Good day.
I inspected and have to issue a COC for a house with polystyrene and steel walls with Rhinoboard on top of the steel walls.
The previous sparky cut holes in the steel wall and made a “tunnel” in the polystirene through which he ran the Surfix to the 4x2 lightswitch box, no conduit.
Since he couldn't get 4 sets of Surfix through the 20mm Male Adaptor, he cleaned the plastic of the Surfix somewhere in the “tunnel” in the wall and pushed the red, black and earth wires through the 20mm Male Adaptor.
I considered this as unsafe and illegal since the wires are not protected and can touch the steel next to the polystyrene. I guess this will mean rewiring everything...
The SWA had also been terminated somewhere inside the conduit entering the DB. This is also not legal, and I'm thinking of ways how I can terminate the SWA cable legally.
The one light breaker is marked outbuildings? The garage, washroom, and kitchen lights work from this breaker. The same goes for the plug breaker that are marked Garage? Also 6 plugs in the house work from the stove breaker.
The steel structure, roof trusses and porch steel structures are not earthed
Lesson once again learned: There is no thing like an easy COC, especially with a diy house!
Peace out and enjoy your weekend.
