I had a minor challenge that I was trying to resolve, maybe someone can educate me on an easier method.
I want to use an astute device to operate a siren for time management.
Simple right, go to schedule and set up the times you want the siren to trigger and how low you want it to trigger, unfortunately an astute device can only trigger for a minimum of 1 minute.
No problem, create a scene, trigger the siren at a specific time and set the countdown feature to 2 seconds, it would work right ? Unfortunately not.
So then how do we resolve this challenge, install a 1-30 sec delay timer (that will cost you an additional R400-RR1200) and hopefully resolve the issue.
What did I learn from 5 hours of tinkering with the astute device and delay timers?
1/ Make sure you use a continuous duty cycle siren or alarm (just in case) they are not cheap, a siren will set you back upwards of R3000, a buzzer or alarm upward of R400.
2/ When working with scenes in the CBI app, you cannot just use the countdown feature, it will trigger and keep it powered. What you do is use the switch "on" , then trigger countdown for period required.
3/ If you want extra protection, using a delay timer. you will need a delay on energize, not a delay off timer, yes I know I should have read the manual.
