I was browsing this forum and saw some chat about the bargaining Council, much of it, no, all of it, dissapproving. There were a lot of questions. Were they answered, failing which I will make a post attempting to answer said questions as best I can.

There wasn't much of a contrary view put forward at the time - that's for sure.
You're more than welcome to fire up those discussions again
Participation is voluntary.

I think most importantly, if I remember the posts - You DO NOT have to be a memebr of taht bargaining council!!! Some industries do have councils that you have no choice, but to belong to. A council has to follow certain procedures including registering and gazetting, before an industry becomes goverend by such a bargaining council, and has to be a member.Anthony Sterne

They're a registered and gazetted bargaining council alright. It's the extension of the agreement to non-parties that irks.
Do the parties have to hold 50%+ of employees in the industry from both organised labour and business or will just one or the other do?Participation is voluntary.

I dont have all the stuff in front of me but your BC is gazetted and registered but they are not Gazetted as a COMPULSORY council. If you read the agreement(parties to) which is on their web site, and I remember correctly, it does not say it is extended to all parties. If the employer joins then the employees will become bound though. Their website or mission does actually say we would like you to join, or words to tha affect.
When I get a chance I will revisit the agreement, but I am backing my memory here.Anthony Sterne
