Who may issue a coc for SSEG ?

In a recent interview with SABC News, the Eskom spokesperson, Daphne Mokwena, said that according to Eskom, the COC that registered and qualified electricians issued for SSEG systems was insufficient and the connections were "unsafe" and illegal.

Eskom requires an Embedded generation installation compliance test report from an electrician registered with the ECA.

Well that counts me out.

Is there anyone that can point me to the appropriate regulation in OHSA Act or SANS 10142 that backs up her statement that only a COC from an ECA member is acceptable ?

Are you sure they said ECA and did not say ECSA ( Engineering Council of South Africa )

Eskom and Cape Town require an engineering sign off - The SANS 10142-1 is the minimal requirement and bylaws can be introduce for compliances as long as it is higher requirement than SANS10142 or OHSA - It is an ongoing argument at the moment

Well, it's not in the interview. That talks to NERSA requirements and NRS 097-2 for installations under 50kVA.

But the My Broadband article talks to other sources such as their forum members.

I suspect there may be some confusion between using the ECA SA's SSEG enhanced COC and being "registered with the ECA SA".
Or perhaps as Graham suggests - ECSA?

Thanks Dave. I didn't see the interview until now, but read the article. Seems as if there could be some confusion.
