Connecting a generator to a Sunsynk inverter

First you you need to understand the application.

1/ Generator connected with auto stop/start, using the aux and the SOC or voltage to control.

2/ Generator connected to with manual stop/start, used as a backup to top up, in case of a grid power failure. Smart people would have already had an industrial plug top installed at the meter with a changeover switch in a small DB next the meter, box since load shedding started back in 2009. Since load shedding hit stage 6, more and more people are installing solar systems with inverters.

The Sunsynk inverter has an aux, which can be setup for various application. What do you need to know before you plug in connect and fire up the generator?

You would start with battery settings.........unfortunately I cant screen copy and paste, will have to figure out how to do that before I continue.

Did try copy and paste, didn't work, so I opened a word doc and paste, then copied and tried to paste didn't work. Will continue once I figure it out.

An important note, if the inverter is a hybrid which has a CT, make sure that the export function is switch off, if the generator is connected at the main incomer and not the aux on the inverter.

The frequency, under grid settings is also important when connecting a generator.

Once I figure out how to cut and paste, I will add actual inverter setting which will make it easier to follow.

Once you get a basic understanding of the settings, doing 1 install or 500 installs, the settings are pretty much all the same. I use to carry an instruction manual with the settings highlighted, but it is so simple by the 5th install you setting up the units like a pro.
