Its paradise, but somebody has to stay here I guess!
      Nice pics.
The cost of living hasn't affected its popularity.

Oh yes - Durbs is the place to be as far as I am concerned. Had breakfast with my wife at Wimpy on the beach front this morning, watching the surfers, the cyclists, joggers and skateboarders. Weather was good. Life is good.

Winters are warm in Durban (24C today), but as we are allergic to the cold, we put a blanket scarf around the lighthouse...

                CROWDS on the beach. BLAH!

                Unsafe beach front. BLAH!

I guess I do NOT like Durbs!

You watch too much TV mate. Come here and experience it for yourself. The crowds that you see on the (sometimes outdated) news are only there on public holidays such as Christmas and New Year and some long weekends. Also, Durban does not only have one beach.

I used to have the same sentiments about Durban until I settled here more than 20 years ago. Cape Town is magic, but when I had the chance to go back, I just could not swop the Durban winters for the rain and cold in the Cape. Have you seen the crowds in the Strand, Camps Bay or Sea Point on a nice day?

I suppose summer in Cape Town (can you deal with the wind?) and winter in Durban would be ideal.

I've often wondered about what it would have been like growing up in Durbs near a beach and the ocean. I do envy you guys. The environmental setting must do wonders for your peace of mind.

Summer in the Cape, winter in Durbs, sounds good. But where do you go for holidays?
