Can anyone help me please. My HP laptop works fine, but suddenly my mouse will not work and it wont work in any of the usb ports ! Have tried switching on and off etc but no go. Printer wont work thro the ports as well !!
Any ideas, is this perhaps a setting I can check out ?

The mouse is dead? Rat poison perhaps? Maybe its time for a new mouse.

Have you tried disabling the mousepad and enabling the mouse?

The fact that the printer has also stopped working off the usb ports is the troubling bit.

Please don't disable the touchpad. It's unlikely to help and it's not going to be fun trying to reactivate without a pointing input device available to navigate.

I'm with Dave here, general USB failure?, and on a Laptop, likely to be expensive. Don't disable your touchpad untill you can get a Techy in to see.

Could be driver problem. Try and use system restore to restore computer to date before you had the problem.

If you have time download Puppy Linux and boot off a cd then see if the usb ports work.

Thank you for your input. I did a few things and it seems to be working today. It looks like it is the ports, not the mousepad. I also left the battery out overnight. (Someone mentioned trying this).
