      The virtual hunt of WikiLeaks

If you want to join an international petition to stop the "persecution" of WikiLeaks go to -http://www.opednews.com/populum/linkframe.php?linkid=123238

At least read what the petition organizers have to say. I think they are right to say that it is quite simple - if the law has been broken - then prosecute ... otherwise shut it.

My personal experience of the need for secrecy is that in 99.9% of instances it is not indicated except for deviant reasons.

To date I have not seen any information "leaked" by WikiLeaks that is "dangerous" or "objectionable".

I also find it interesting that Julien Assagne( of WikiLeaks), accused of "sexual misconduct", is denied bail by the English Courts, but Shrien Divani, accused of murderingg his bride in SA, gets bail. Hnmnnn........

This is going to be another hunt for "saddam hussein." America went into the country with claims of WMDs, and found NOTHING. then all of a sudden they captured saddam and decided to kill him. Sure he wasn't the nicest guy around, but they completely disregarded any protocol or human rights. The truth is, there's a country that has a footprint that is increasing, and pretty soon there won't be anyone who can step on its toes with enough force to stop it.

Latest news - Julian Assange has been granted bail - but more interestingly no charges have been made as yet

It's a serious security issue. It''s playing into the hands of the enemies of the free world. It's morally wrong to reveal this info. This could start a war. This could result in the death of the free internet. It's just the actions of a bunch of sexual deviants. What a load of drivel.

The US was caught with its pants down and this is just the backlash of an embarrassed administration, we are now sitting at the intermission of a political pantomime written and directed by the US and it's purpose is mainly twofold. Firstly to entertain and by that I mean to take the spotlight off the other more important issues. They want people discussing Assange himself, they want people wondering if he's a sexual deviant, they want people discussing the morality and security issues of the leaks, anything but the actual content. They won't charge him because it won't stick and when it falls apart, the spotlight will be back on the US authorities...... only twice as bright. At best they'll try to get one of their EU whipping boy countries to do their dirty work so they can deny all involvement should the need arise.
Secondly they hope it will stem the flow of the leaks. By arresting the owner of the instrument used to reveal the info and by applying pressure on financial institutions such as paypal, mastercard etc and cutting off the finance and finally leaving wikileaks without a domain.

Unfortunately for them wikileaks had contingency plans in place so it will all be to no avail. Their problem is also that if they fail to make an example of wikileaks then they're only option left to stop this happening again is to clean up their own act and that's a much more daunting task entirely.

It will cause the US to rethink their strategy regardless. It may even cause the americans themselves to take notice and wonder what their government is doing. Considering the anti-muslim propoganda they've been spewing for the past 9 years, and the numerous countries they've stepped on to get where they are, I think it's about time someone caught a wake up there. And a wake up outside of the states.
