Yep. Bought some PC speakers I wanted on Bid-or-buy, and a few games / e-books for the kids from Leapfrog.

Just for interest's sake; are the shipping charges/duties off the charts? I've wanted to buy from them on a couple of occasions.

I'm getting my first credit card next week (I've always been a bit nervous with that sort of... power in my hands. Or someone else's if it gets hucked.) and I plan to do a little bit of christmas shopping with it =)

My son ordered a guitar and amp from wantitall and takealot. Both imported from the USA and even with shipping it cost a fraction for the same thing in most SA music shops. I use Kalahari a lot and prefer them to Amazon.

Use it wisely. I was semi-dependent on my credit card to cover some of my expenses back when I was putting a large part of my income towards my studies. I learned the hard way that it can take a looooong time to pay it all back. I still use mine for online shopping, but I pay everything back ASAP.

I haven't bought a single thing on-line for Christmas. That said I haven't bought anything off-line yet either. I'll probably end up doing all my Christmas shopping on Christmas morning at the BP garage as usual.

                  Hi Ian

How was the service at takealot? I almost bought some stuff from there but could not get through on their helpline. And interesting to hear about Amazon, last i heard, due to theft, that had stopped dealing with SA - nice to hear that they still are.

I just looked at the invoice shipping was R263 import deposit R142. It was delivered by courier so no theft problems. This was for a kindle. They do give you a total cost before you pay.

Service from takealot was fine and quick, I haven't dealt with the phone service though.
I also bought a server from digital planet that was quick, I am just battling through setting up linux. Being too busy at work to spend quality time on it. The server only cost R1300.

I like loot a lot. That said make sure you order something that is in stock.

well, have placed an order with takealot as well.

(wow, bought a PS3 for my Christmas present, but spending just about the same again on accessories and games!)

                            I hope my tennis improves...
