One good thing about private contractors disconnecting and reconnecting meters for non payment, they dont reseal the meter if they take out the bridge between the circuit breaker and meter, which opens it up for tampering, you could just connect connect your supply cable to your DB directly to the circuit breaker.

Any sudden changes in your account brings up warning tabs at the municipality, make sure you can justify the sudden change, for example the installation of a gas stove or solar lighting and geysers, etc

I wasn't suggesting or advocating theft of electricity, I was suggesting the removal of a faulty ripple relay or load shedder or whatever the thing is, at least untilthe installers come back to repair or replace it.

I wouldnt either, just saying, thieves "could" steal electricity. The council use to charge around R80 for a disconnect and reconnect and pay the private contractors around R12, no wonder they arrive at customers properties looking like they a bunch of hoods. I wonder what qualification these contractors have, to be able to climb the pole and remove the fuse.

solution: After stripping my m*er I repeatedly switched the device via the normal geyser switch. I lost count but after a while of doing that the relay started “clicking” behold hot-water. So I guess the relay was the problem???

Right a follow up, Since the little green light decided to wake up I found that the clicking noise happens when the water heater turns off... So basically it takes a while for it to turn "on" then only do I see the 3.2kwatt load. So I think I will be ok for now but I still don't think that thing is operating normally....
