I'm coming from the UK where we have different options for domestic electrical installers, installation electricians and maintenance electricians. When I last looked you had SABS 0142 wiring regulations. I have obtained a copy of the SANS 10142 as recommended by you to read. I am very up to date with industrial equipment but I imagine domestic installation will have particularly stringent requirements in the RSA.

Actually not Dave. All my wood working skills were learnt from youtube. If i need to find out how to do something i go to youtube.
With regards to the COC and new SANS edition, after doing a refresher course at the ECA many years ago i realised how screwed this industry was back then. I am sure nothing has improved in the past 15 years.
I still work hands on, just finished 2 factories a 400 amp and an 800 amp supply, cable trays, cabling and connected all the machines. I had to laugh when the property management sent around people to check my work. Every single person who walks into the factory comments about the "attention to detail". Maybe i am 15 years behind with the paper work, watching 2 companies carry out inspection reports in my factory, i am glad i havent wasted my time.
