[Question] wood an approved method to blank or support electrical components

Rules and regs with regards to the type of material used to support electrical apparatuses.

A customer is moving into a premises which has recently been tested and passed as requested.

I noticed all the gland holes, DB partitions and missing panels are covered using 12 mm plywood.

Rules regarding the type of material used to blank off or mount electrical equipment ?

In some countries you are not allowed to install a plastic DB it must be a non flammable material.

I was watching a video of a solar installation and the lad even goes as far as mounting the inverter and components to a board which is non flammable.

I like the way they fit a document holder below the inverter.

Comments are my opinion, unless regulations are attached to support the comment. This is social media, not a court room.

As far as I know, there is no regulation that prevents the use of wood.

I still pass installations with old wooden db's as long as there are no fuses and all the breakers have shrouds.

@ Isetech. Checked out that video you pasted. Consumer unit or DB seems to be on the low side. Don't know UK regs but here it would have to be in a lockable cupboard, being less than 1,2 meters from the floor.

      Very neat inverter installation.
