    Neutral earthing

Been familiarising myself once again with SANS 10142 with regards neutral earthing.

Couldn't help but had a little chuckle when reading 7.16.4.5.

Is that regulation really necessary ?

To save folk looking up the clause:
7.16.4.5 The neutral shall not be earthed beyond any earth leakage unit.

I can imagine how that conversation went in the SANS committee:

Derlyn: Is that regulation really necessary ?

Cecil: If we don't put it in, some idiot will f. it up and then blame us for their f-up.
    Participation is voluntary.

It's the same as saying .... " the live should not be connected to the neutral or earth anywhere on the installation. 😂😂

I agree - Sometimes people don't think and bear in mind that some municipalities insist on an Adit unit when the supply is greater than 300KVA - The Adit unit may not pick up the neutral earth bridge due to it being set a lot higher than 30ma
