    Prepaid meter fault.

Landis & Gyr 3 ph prepaid meter.

When power comes on after loadshedding, the meter does not come back on and the display stays blank.

Now if one bridges the line and load on phase 1 momentarily, it switches the meter on until the next loadshedding, then the meter doesn't switch on again after loadshedding.

    A first for me.

    Any ideas ?

Almost sounds like line and load has been reversed , or the internal relay wire has been taken from load side instead of line side

Found by mistake 🤣 Decided to temporarily bypass the meter so that the restaurant could carry on with business. Turned off all loads and as soon as I put in that first bridge, the meter switched on.

Anyway, I'll wait for the next loadshedding and open the meter to check connections. What baffles me is that this is a new fault. This meter has been operating perfectly for 2 years.

      Thanks brother. Will give feedback.

Bit of feedback. @ GCE, you were 100% correct. Line and load swopped on all 3 phases.

This is what I found. Thicker wires are line.

After a bit of investigating it was found that 6 months after the previous tenant moved in 2 years ago was the last electricity purchase.

The meter was bypassed on the meter terminals. Then shortly before the tenant vacated the premises at end December, he got a buddy to remove the tamper but his buddy got the lines and loads wrong. The landlord is now taking legal action to recoup for the 18 months stolen electricity.

        Never a dull moment.
