What is the best way to extend 16mm2 house wire? Is a ferrule and crimper the way forward or are there other options? I'm having my DB relocated and the cable feeding the DB is about 1m short so I'm hoping one can just extend the existing cable and not replace the entire cable.

Lots of different methods but I'd go with a hex crimped ferrule and 2 layers of adhesive heat shrink or maybe DIN rail mounted, straight thru terminal block inside an enclosure depending whether it might ever need to be disconnected in future. I even came across MC4 connectors used to extend wires on an AC circuit a few months ago, it was a neat job but I'm not sure how it sits with the manufacturers instructions._______________________________________________
