[Question] 6 amp socket

Hi

I have noticed that unswitched 6 amp sockets have been extensively used to connect fixed roof fans in a building and fixed extractor fans in bathrooms .
I don't see where the regulations permit the use of 6 amp sockets for these applications . The only place where I can find that 6 amp sockets are allowed are in lighting circuits as per the regulations.

Is the connection of fixed appliances via 6 amp sockets not from older regulations
Does one replace all the fixed appliance 6 amp sockets with 16 amp sockets or isolators.

Interestingly, the 6 amp socket satisfies the requirements of an isolating device.

There's no reason or regulation I know of that would prevent a BS546 6A skt (aren't they actually 5A?) from being used on any appliance on any circuit as long as the load current and OCPD are suitable.

See reg 6.15.2.1 which says socket outlets rated aat less than 16 amp shall not be used unless otherwise allowed. The only place I can see 6 amp sockets are allowed is with lights.With fixed appliances it is not specified.

It's a padlockable lockout device for a plug to allow safe isolation so nobody can plug the item back in whilst you're working on it.
