In a way it's a fancy knot, Marq.
In the picture below
the whip finishing is the black wrap of thread just behind the eye of the hook.
It's multiple wraps of thread that wrap around the shaft of the hook and also the end of the thread, making for a very neat and secure finish.Participation is voluntary.
